Designed a comprehensive Canvas course lesson focusing on equipping school leaders to excel in educational leadership and enhance stakeholder engagement, school culture, and student outcomes.

Academic

Needs Assessment

  • Situation: In an educational organization, there was noticeable organizational conflict and leadership performance gaps.

  • Task: Identify specific leadership development needs of school supervisors to improve organizational relationships.

  • Action: Initiated a needs assessment by conducting surveys and interviews of supervisors and their direct reports to gather both qualitative and quantitative data.

  • Result: Pinpointed four leadership challenges, including a lack of visionary leadership, effective communication, data-driven decision making, and emotional intelligence. Based on findings, developed a report detailing strategic goal analysis, learner analysis, context analysis, and task analysis.

Learning Objectives

  • Situation: In the context of leadership development training for school supervisors, there is a pressing need to establish clear and well-defined learning objectives.

  • Task: Design a training program that effectively addresses the identified training needs, ensuring that it provides meaningful learning experiences for school supervisors.

  • Action: The action to be taken involves developing specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) learning objectives for the training program.

  • Result: The result of establishing SMART learning objectives is a training program that is aligned with the identified needs, focused on key competencies, and capable of providing a clear roadmap for both instructional design and participant learning outcomes.

PowerPoint Presentation

  • Situation: Based on the needs assessment, leadership development should focus on effective communication and stakeholder engagement, recognizing that school leaders play a pivotal role in an ever-changing environment where the diverse needs and interests of staff, parents, and students significantly affect school success.

  • Task: Develop a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation that serves as a central component of a leadership development training program, equipping school leaders with practical tools and strategies to excel in their roles.

  • Action: The PowerPoint presentation offered a structured, visually engaging platform to convey vital information on stakeholder engagement, communication styles, strategies, and their impact on school culture, incorporating real-world scenarios for practical application in educational leadership.

  • Result: School leaders were equipped with the knowledge and skills for effective communication and stakeholder engagement, enhancing relationships with staff, parents, and students, thereby cultivating a more harmonious, collaborative, and thriving educational community.

Interactive Video

  • Situation: While a structured PowerPoint presentation serves as a foundation, a more interactive approach is needed to deepen understanding of the content.

  • Task: The task is to transform the existing PowerPoint presentation into an interactive Edpuzzle video with multiple-choice questions, open-ended questions, notes, and audio to enhance the learning experience for school leaders.

  • Action: Leveraging Edpuzzle's features, I embedded multiple-choice and open-ended questions, provided instructor insights, and trainer audio narration to create a comprehensive and engaging learning resource.

  • Result: The result was an interactive video that fosters active learning, self-assessment, and critical thinking, enabling better-prepared school leaders to navigate the complexities of communication and stakeholder engagement, ultimately promoting a positive school culture and engaged stakeholders.

  • Situation: In educational leadership, the need for comprehensive training on effective communication and stakeholder engagement has arisen, as these skills are critical for building a positive school culture and ensuring success, therefore, devising a training module/lesson is essential.

  • Task: The task involves consolidating several lesson components into a structured training module within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS), providing a centralized platform for school leaders to access, integrating the PowerPoint and interactive video, and incorporating supplementary materials, discussions, assignments, and quizzes.

  • Action: The action plan encompassed creating a Canvas course structure with dedicated modules, integrating the PowerPoint presentation, embedding an interactive Edpuzzle video, providing additional resources, establishing discussion forums, creating assessments, and implementing feedback mechanisms to enhance the training.

  • Result: The result was a comprehensive Canvas course offering a holistic learning experience for school leaders, covering effective communication and stakeholder engagement. It fosters engagement, interactivity, deeper learning, and practical application of concepts, ultimately equipping school leaders to excel in educational leadership and enhance stakeholder engagement, school culture, and student outcomes.
